Banyan Tree Description And Natural Beautiful Images Collection

Description Of Banyan Tree:

The Banyan tree is the National tree in India. This huge tree towers over its neighbors and has the widest reaching roots and easily covering several acres. It sends off new shoots from its roots. The tree is really a tangle of branches, roots, and trunks. The banyan tree regenerates and lives for an incredible length of time.It is thought of as the immortal tree.

Its size and leafy shelter are valued in India as a place of rest and reflection, not to mention protection from the hot sun. It is still the focal point and gathering place for local councils and meetings. India has a long history of honoring this tree; it figures prominently in many of the oldest stories of the.

The name was originally given to F. benghalensis and comes from India where early travellers observed that the shade of the tree was frequented bybanias or Indian traders.

In the Gujarati language, banya means "grocer/merchant," not "tree." The Portuguese picked up the word to refer specifically to Hindu merchants and passed it along to the English as early as 1599 with the same meaning. By 1634, English writers began to tell of the banyan tree, a tree under which Hindu merchants would conduct their business. The tree provided a shaded place for a village meeting or for merchants to sell their goods. Eventually "banyan" became the name of the tree itself.

One of the largest trees, named the Great Banyan, is found in Kolkata in India. It is said to be more than 250 years old. Another such tree, named Doda Alada Mara, is found in the outskirts of Bangalore. Doda Alada Mara has a spread of around 3 acres.

One of the most famous of banyan trees was planted on the island of Kabirvad in Gujarat. Records show that the Kabirvad tree is more than 300 years old.

Tornado Introduction Cause Safety Precaution During And After Tornado And Images Collection

Introduction Of Tornadoes:

Tornadoes are nature’s most violent storms. Spawned from powerful thunderstorms. A tornado appears as a rotating funnel shaped cloud that extends from a thunderstorm to the ground with whirling winds that can reach 300 miles per hour. Damage paths can be in excess of one mile wide and 50 miles long. Every state is at some risk from this hazard.  Before a tornado hits the wind may die down and the air may become very still. A cloud of debris can mark the location of a tornado even if a funnel is not visible. Tornadoes generally occur near the trailing edge of a thunderstorm. It is not uncommon to see clear sunlit skies behind a tornado.

Cause Of Tornadoes:
  • When the ground grows warmer in spring and aloft is cold warm air near the surface rises. As it cools the water vapor it carries condenses forming clouds and thunderstorms.
  • Wind near the surface blow in one direction while winds aloft blow in another.
  • Rising warm air creates an updraft pulling the rotating air upright. Now the thunderstorm forms a rotating vortex on mesocyclone but only a few mesocyclones spawn tornadoes.Mesocyclone can be five miles across.
Safety Precautions  During a Tornadoes :
  • Go to a pre-designated shelter area such as a safe  room  or the lowest building level.
  • If there is no basement, go to the center of an interior room on the lowest level  away from corners, windows, doors, and outside walls.
  • Do not open windows.
  •  If you are in vehicle immediately get into a vehicle, buckle your seat belt and try to drive to the closest sturdy shelter.
  • Put your head down below the windows cover your head with your hands and a blanket, coat or other cushion if possible.
  • If you can safely get noticeably lower than the level of the roadway, leave your car and lie in that area, covering your head with your hands.
  • Do not get under an overpass or bridge. You are safer in a low flat location.
  • Never try to outrun a tornado in urban or congested areas in a car or truck. Instead, leave the vehicle immediately for safe shelter.
  • Watch out for flying debris. Flying debris from tornadoes causes most fatalities and injuries.

Safety Precautions After Tornadoes:
  • Continue to monitor your battery-powered radio or television for emergency information.
  • Be careful when entering any structure that has been damaged.
  • Wear sturdy shoes or boots, long sleeves and gloves when handling or walking on or near debris.
  • Be aware of hazards from exposed nails and broken glass.
  • Do not touch downed power lines or objects in contact with downed lines. Report electrical hazards to the police and the utility company.
  • Seek prompt medical attention if you suspect CO poisoning and are feeling dizzy, light-headed or nauseated.
  • Hang up displaced telephone receivers that may have been knocked off by the tornado but stay off the telephone except to report an emergency.
  • Cooperate fully with public safety officials.
  • Respond to requests for volunteer assistance by police, fire fighters, emergency management and relief organizations, but do not go into damaged areas unless assistance has been requested. Your presence could hamper relief efforts and you could endanger yourself.

Rainforest Introduction Location Importance And Images Collection

Introduction:

Tropical rainforests are forests with tall trees, warm climates and lots of rain. In some rainforests it rains more than one inch nearly every day of the year.Rainforests now cover less than 6% of Earth's land surface. Scientists estimate that more than half of all the world's plant and animal species live in tropical rain forests.

A tropical rain forest has more kinds of trees than any other area in the world. Scientists have counted about 100 to 300 species in one 2 1/2-acre (1-hectare) area in South America. Seventy percent of the plants in the rainforest are trees.

About 1/4 of all the medicines we use come from rainforest plants. Curare comes from a tropical vine, and is used as an anesthetic and to relax muscles during surgery. Quinine from the cinchona tree is used to treat malaria. A person with lymphocytic leukemia has a 99% chance that the disease will go into remission because of the rosy periwinkle. More than 1,400 varieties of tropical plants are thought to be potential cures for cancer.

Rainforests Are Found:

The tropical rain forest can be found in three major geographical areas around the world.
1.  Central America in the the Amazon river basin.
2.  Africa to Zaire basin with a small area in West Africa  also eastern Madagascar.
3. Indo Malaysia , west coast of India, Assam, Southeast Asia, New Guinea and Queensland  Australia.

Other countries that have large areas of rainforest include Bolivia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Ecuador, Gabon, Guyana,Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Congo, Suriname, and Venezuela.

Many Plants And Animals Have In Rainforest Due To:

1.  Climate:

Rainforests are located in tropical regions, they receive a lot of sunlight. The sunlight is converted to energy by plants through the process of photosynthesis. Since there is a lot of sunlight, there is a lot of energy in the rainforest. This energy is stored in plant vegetation, which is eaten by animals. The abundance of energy supports an abundance of plant and animal species.

Canopy:

The canopy structure of the rainforest provides an abundance of places for plants to grow and animals to live. The canopy offers sources of food, shelter, and hiding places, providing for interaction between different species. For example, there are plants in the canopy called bromeliads that store water in their leaves. Frogs and other animals use these pockets of water for hunting and laying their eggs.

Importance Of The Rainforest:

The beauty, majesty, and timelessness of a primary rainforest are indescribable. It is impossible to capture on film, to describe in words or to explain to those who have never had the awe-inspiring experience of standing in the heart of a primary rainforest.

Rainforests have evolved over millions of years to turn into the incredibly complex environments they are today. Rainforests represent a store of living and breathing renewable natural resources that for eons, by virtue of their richness in both animal and plant species, have contributed a wealth of resources for the survival and well-being of humankind.
