About octopus:

Octopus is a cephalopod mollusc of the order Octopoda. Octopuses have two eyes and four pairs of arms.It like other cephalopods they are bilaterally symmetric. An octopus has a hard beak with its mouth at the center point of the arms. Octopuses have no internal or external skeleton, allowing them to squeeze through tight places. Octopuses are among the most intelligent and behaviorally flexible of all invertebrates.

The octopus inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean including coral reefs, pelagic waters and the ocean floor. There are around 300 recognized octopus species which is over one third of the total number of known cephalopod species. The term octopus may also be used to refer only to those creatures in the genus Octopus. A group of octopuses is called a consortium.

Octopus is a fast swimmers. And their soft bodies can squeeze into impossibly small cracks and crevices where predators can't follow. They also have beak like jaws that can deliver a nasty bite and venomous saliva used mainly for subduing prey.

Octopuses have three hearts. Two branchial hearts pump blood through each of the two gills while the third pumps blood through the body. Octopus blood contains the copper rich protein hemocyanin for transporting oxygen.

The common octopus is found in the tropical and temperate waters of the world’s oceans. They can grow to about 4.3 feet in length and weigh up to 22 pounds.
